However... I see these rings in the fade in the back. How about trying a BW filter/plugin instead? While the result isn't technically BW (BW is 256 grey values), you get a much richer BW and you can add toning to make it colder or warmer. Or neutral. But you won't get those rings. Or, at least, they won't be this obvious.
Check out [link] and look for a filter called B/W Conversion. It can even emulate the tonal response of several different kinds of BW films. And colour filters. It's awesome.

I don't see these"rings" when I view this picture from my Mac; but I see them when I open the pic in my office.
It depends by frequency of monitors.
